Mike Rowe on the Importance of Trades
In a speech to a group of somebodies in Silicone valley, Mike Rowe talks about testicles on his chin, and the growing distaste for manual labor jobs. America seems to have turned its back on skilled labor, and forgotten the pride of doing something the hard/right way.

Good Night!
My Chinese class met for a dinner of some wonderful 中国食品, a few brews, and more than few laughs. Also, Sam made her typically fantastic carrot cake. And the Phillies took the first game of the World Series...

Weekend Roundup
Well, it was a great weekend. Got my victory Guinness from G.A., and I've never been one to be satisfied with just one Guinness. She also gave me a tshirt from Lyco, because we beat them so bad.
So that was Friday.
Me and Dad spent alot of Saturday putzing around grocery stores. We were going over some friends house that night and didn't want to roll in empty handed. So I made some pasta. He was mostly looking for ingredients, because he spent some of last week in New Orleans and has since been hooked on gumbo, jambalaya etc. And then that night was spent chilling, eating pasta, laughing at little two-year-olds being adorable, and Bourbon and ginger ales.
Sunday, as always, meant coffee and sports center with the gram-a true O.G.-, and I got a chance to dig out a few skateboards and get the trucks off and sanded down for a few tables.
A few current favorites:
Dick Dale-Nitro
Dead Kennedys-Too Drunk to Fuck
Hub City Stompers-Mass Appeal
The Hold Steady- One for the Cutters

Every Day is A Good Day
When you get a chance to bug out of a workshopping of your story, and head over to the comic shop with buddies Sam and Krystle. Picked up more Marvel Zombies (3)-missing some of the humor of the first 2-and Punisher:Noir. Meeting the two killahs later, for dinner.

Ballads from the Revolution
I love finding cds from when I was younger. Case in point: Good Riddance's Ballads From the Revolution. A guy at the bakery I worked at burned me a copy and we would listen to it nonstop, cleaning in the back when the place had closed.
Was doin something and came across it today, and it hasn't lost any of its appeal in my eyes.

Borderlands
So, Hello
Hmmm. New blog. What to talk about. Well......
Phillies won last night, which is always good. The final score was 5-4, J-Roll got a clutch double to win it in the ninth, because that's just the sort of player he is. They won the game before that too, 11-0. I kinda liked the 5-4 game better, because it shows what sort of team the Phils are. Good outing by Blanton, and they never gave up, and they won by playing small ball. Kudos also to Charlie Manuel, whom I think is doing an excellent job of showing Lidge that he has faith in his reliever, which is what Lidge needs.
But enough baseball.
I'm going home this weekend! Not that I live miles and miles away, but i'm taking it easy, getting some face-time with my friends' children, and hopefully my TWO NEW COUSINS! Who are both named Johnathan. That might get confusing. So there's that, and if i get a chance, maybe I'll at least draft the plans I have for a coffee table I want to build.
And get mah fancy socks. And mah cowboy boots. And mah vans.
